Industrial Hygiene Technician
HP Environmental is seeking an individual to perform field inspections and monitoring duties related asbestos, lead, mold, indoor air quality (IAQ), occupational exposures, and other tasks as required. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in industrial hygiene or a related science is required. A minimum 1-3 years of experience performing independent site investigations, along with current certifications/licensing in VA, DC, and MD is also required. Candidates should have some knowledge of building design and operation and/or construction-related field experience. Must have good written and oral communication and computer skills. The majority of work will be in the D.C.-metro area; however, some limited overnight travel, weekend work, and night work may be required. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a criminal background check. Must be able to carry 50 lbs. of equipment and have reliable transportation. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site inspections related to asbestos, lead paint, mold/water damage, and indoor air quality.
- Perform monitoring duties related to abatement/remediation work or occupational exposures.
- Prepare reports.
- Interact and communicate with clients and contractors.
- Perform building and HVAC system operations and maintenance inspections.
- Independently collect samples (air, surface, bulk) and deploy electronic sensors in buildings and on construction projects.
