In 1993, HP Environmental, Inc. purchased and occupied a 7,500 square foot office, conference and laboratory facility near Washington, D.C.’s Dulles International Airport. The laboratory is located in the heart of Fairfax County’s technology corridor and is convenient to most major metropolitan areas of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, DC.
The facility is unique in its custom design & layout with aesthetic interior finishes and is equipped with expansive meeting & conference rooms and laboratory facilities that are conducive to the collegial working environment that is the backbone of HPE’s success.
In addition to HPE’s consulting services, it is also equipped with in-house environmental chemistry and microbiology laboratories that serve and support a broad range of professionals including, but not limited to, geologists, environmental engineers, industrial hygienists, safety professionals, home inspectors and related disciplines. Our laboratory clients traditionally practice in the areas of Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, Microbiology, Geology, Health & Safety, and Environmental Science.
HPE assures quality performance in several ways. Laboratory staff are experienced and seasoned with direct access to the highest level of management. All testing and quality control measures are directed by a computer controlled laboratory information management system (LIMS) resulting in a standardization of laboratory operations and performance. Quality assurance is achieved by internal audits and data review, participation in proficiency, round robin programs, and use of laboratory quality control samples, duplicates/replicates, blanks, spikes, recovery studies and calibration checks.
The microbiology laboratory is certified by the American Industrial Hygiene Association Laboratory Accrediation Program (AIHA-LAP, LLC) as an accredited Environmental Microbiology Laboratory (ID# 100506) and is established by both the Maryland Department of the Environment (Cerification # 319) and the Commonwealth of Virginia, Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services (ID# 00156) as a state Certified Drinking Water Laboratory. The microbiology laboratory is also a member of the Center for Disease Control Elite Program and holds an interim approval (ELAP ID 12070) for Legionella culture analysis, effective March 27, 2017 for ISO method 11731 by the New York State, Department of Health (NYSDOH). .
The chemistry laboratory maintains accreditation by The Virginia Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (VELAP) and is recognized by both the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of General Services Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services as a Certified Drinking Water Laboratory.
